The Rocket SIM from Smart Communications is currently offering a true unlimited data plan for ₱499.00 a month. I liked it, my nieces liked it, my mom liked it, everybody is happy! But why Rocket SIM you may ask; honestly, I have no freaking idea why these companies come up with all sorts SIM variants and yet they operate under the same network.
I’ve actually tried the GoMo Unlimited Data Plan first, and I was half-happy because GoMo plays this catch-me-if-you-can sort of game. It doesn’t offer unlimited data plan all the time. Rocket SIM, on the other hand, is consistent and you can simply subscribe to another 30-day unlimited data when you need it.
Okay, so my nieces have been using the Rocket SIM for 20 days in a row now, and it was a pleasant experience. But since we don’t have a 5G router to take advantage of the 5G speeds, Internet speed isn’t that blazingly fast and YouTube videos buffer on high quality play.
For me, Rocket SIM and GoMo Unlimited Data Plans are like the light at the end of the tunnel. You know this when you’re on a tight budget, and you have children who need to access the Internet for their schooling or perhaps if you work from home. Though it’s still miles behind the wired Internet speeds, but my needs don’t usually involve downloading and uploading gigabytes of data, so it’s good to go. The amount of money that can be saved here is unquestionably clear.
Smart says it doesn’t throttle or speed cap its Rocket SIM. Theoretically, it can achieve 42mbps but this remains to be seen. This is currently what I’m getting, but then again, I’m not using a 5G router, okay?
The other thing I like about Rocket SIM is that the GigaLife app is just beautifully created. It’s easy on the eyes, easy to use and easy everything. I also happen to use Globe Telecom’s GlobeOne app for my postpaid plan and it’s like an ugly acne waiting to pop 🙂
So would I recommend Smart’s Rocket SIM? Absolutely! I hope they keep offering the ₱499 prepaid unlimited data plan so that everybody is happy!
