Dahilayan Adventure Park Review

I’ve been to Cagayan De Oro countless times and I must say that the city have improved since then. I’ve been to few areas in Mindanao like Iligan, Marawi, Camiguin and Bukidnon. Apart from my love for Camiguin because of their hot and cold springs, I consider Bukidnon as a must getaway destination.

In Bukidnon, you will see the Del Monte Pineapple Plantation, but on the other hand, it’s not just about pineapple and all but they have this newly built attraction and that is Dahilayan Adventure Park. If you are a thrill seeker, loves adventure and wants some adrenalin rush or simply you just want to unwind, away from the hustle bustle city life then head out to Dahilayan Forest Park located in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon.

It was my first time and I must say I fell in love with the place the moment I got there. The pine trees welcome us and I felt like I am in another country because it was fogging at that time plus the country style look of the entire place. I then went to their information area to check out the amenities. I was surprised when I saw the list that I can’t believe they have lots of adventures to offer for all visitors.

My husband who is an adrenalin junkie insisted that we should try the Drop Zone Sky Swing. Imagine a 120-ft free fall  wherein you will be suspended in the air for a few seconds and once you release the drop button, prepare to scream at the top of your lungs. Once you’re on top, there’s no going back but to experience being dropped. I admit, I am not fond of extreme rides or adventures but I lost my momentum in a split second by the time the button was released.

The harness were safe and so is the entire area for landing. The staff made sure that all ropes and locks are secured. They would even tell you that it wasn’t that scary, just to ease your tension. Maybe for them but for me, it was terrifying. The price for single is PhP 500.00 and they also have for pairs/tandem for a low price of PhP 750.00. I find it a bit expensive for an adventure of less than 5 minutes but the experience is worth it!

If you prefer the not-so-adrenalin-rush-adventure, then Zip line is worth a try. They claim that they are the Asia’s Longest Dual Zipline. You can either fly like Superman or sit like a Queen, but I tell you, this one shouldn’t be missed. We tried the Superman zip and it was pretty fast. It felt like I’m about to fall but the view is splendid. At that time, they have promo for Zipline + Drop Zone. As far as I remember, it costs around Php900 per person, not bad for those who can afford but still a bit pricey for me since it will only lasts for a couple of minutes, maximum is 5 minutes per ride, I guess.

On top of their famous Drop Zone and Zip line, we planned to try their ATV and Buggy trail adventure but too bad, the rain started to pour in the late afternoon and the trail was wet thus it is not advisable to take a ride. So what we did, instead of waiting for the rain to stop, we stayed in their Forest Cafe and went inside their Forest Animals and Playground with an entrance of PhP 50.00/per person. There you will see life-size animals of all kinds and simply the breathtaking view that will comfort you in your stay.

Forest Luge is another new attraction added but since I spent more than 2K already for the rides alone, I decided to just skip it. Zorbit looks fun but a bit pricey, same as the Bungee Bounce and the Treetop Adventure. Though I skipped most of the attraction/rides there except for the main ones, at least I have another reason to go back because of it.

Honestly, the prices are quite expensive but they said, you are not paying for the rides but for the experience! They also have room accommodations suited for couples, family and barkada’s plus if you book a room, you can avail 20% off on all rides and free entrance. A delightful treat! But since it was just a day tour, and home is just few miles away, we then decided to just go home. Besides, it offers the same comfort.

Overall, the view is amazing, the staff and crew are friendly and accommodating, the amenities are great, plus the experience is very memorable.  An A-lister for a vacation getaway!  So what are you waiting for? Take your day to the extreme and enjoy Dahilayan Adventure Park, Cagayan De Oro’s favorite destination.

Vikings Review: A Luxury Buffet That Is Worth Every Cent

Once in a while, my sister and I would splurge ourselves with sumptuous cuisines to get out of the monotony of home-cooked meals. Since my birthday is coming up, I have decided to treat her at Vikings SM Marikina. This particular restaurant is famed for offering the largest collection of international dishes in the country.

You can practically have everything here – fresh salads, prime ribs, seafood, dim sum, gourmet pizzas, cakes, you name it. One of its trademarks is their show kitchen wherein guests can have a glimpse of how its dishes are impeccable prepared by Vikings’ professionally-trained chefs. Another thing that makes this place stands out from the other buffet restaurants its homey feel. The interior of the place has a European touch with its brick walls, oil paintings and random books on the shelves.

What got me hooked up on the idea of trying out Vikings is its birthday promo. It basically allowed me to have a free buffet because it is my birthday! I just booked a reservation for two and brought an I.D. with me that has my birthday date on it. The company itself really did have good marketing skills because I started to crave for this restaurant just by looking at the photos of their mouth-watering selections. Indeed, they have satisfied my sense of sight even before they satisfied my stomach. Moreover, just the idea of seeing chefs at work got me intrigued enough to actually try out Vikings. Though it may appear quite expensive in comparison to other buffet restaurants in the metro, I realized that I already exceeded the break-even amount just by eating a plate full of of sashimi, rib-eye steaks, lechon and cheesecakes.

Overall, eating at Vikings is worth the price that I paid. The dishes are well-prepared and the servers are very accommodating. I even got a surprise cake and a birthday song from its crew. The only thing that should have taken consideration was the flow of traffic of the people. Because Vikings’ fame, many are also trying it out and it gets a little noisy at times.

Regardless of this small thing, I can definitely say that Vikings is worth a revisit. Next time though, I am going to tag the whole family along. Vikings usually have promos especially during holidays so I will be looking forward to maximizing these promos. It will be a feast that we will definitely savor knowing that the cost is totally worth it.

Day Trip at Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort

Summer is definitely here and beach is the most common destination for us. This year, my friends and I have decided to spend another bonding moment at Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort. Sumilon is situated in the southeastern part of Cebu. It is a 3 hour bus ride to Oslob and a 15 minute boat transfer to the island resort. Upon reaching the island, we were immediately greeted by the staff and given a map on the whole island.

We availed for the Day tour package which includes buffet lunch, boat transfers, use of infinity pool, kayaking, trekking, snorkeling, and of course, swimming in the shifting sandbar. First, we headed to the Lagoon area for some kayaking. Since all of us are excited to see Nemo, we borrowed snorkel gear and hit the beach. It is truly wonderful under the sea.

Just before lunchtime we enjoyed the infinity pool and Jacuzzi while savoring the breathtaking view of the ocean. The staff set up the dining area for our lunch. We were served with delicious meals and cold drinks. After eating, we rested for a while and got ready for our next activity- trekking. We started walking for a few minutes until we reached the amazing sandbar. We were definitely in love with the place. The fine sand and crystal clear water are indeed magnificent.

After enjoying the water, we continued to hike and had the opportunity to take a top view at the natural lagoon and white beach. At the island’s highest point, there stands a historic watchtower and a modern lighthouse. On the other side, you can see the Marine Sanctuary. We did not have the chance to see underwater since it was already low tide and it would mean additional pay for scuba gear.

Overall, our summer escapade was a total blast. I would still want to swim at the white sand bar where you can enjoy the sunset’s view. The Day Tour package was all worth it. However, I suggest that you spend overnight to totally enjoy the whole island, although it can be costly.

A Review of the Seven Seas Cafe Lunch Buffet

The summertime has provided my entire family the chance to go on a vacation in the city. What we would usually do is book a hotel room at any three to five star hotels that we’ve never been to before. Just recently, we decided to book at the Pearl Manila Hotel located in United Nations Avenue because a relative of ours gave us free lunch buffet passes at the hotel’s Seven Seas Restaurant.

At first glance, it is quite impossible for one to feel immediately impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant. It can also only accommodate a few guests and looking at it from the other end of the buffet table, it is quite obvious that there are only a few food selections on the menu. However, I am totally wrong. Although the food selections were few, they were an absolute favorite.

It was a Filipino feast at the time we were there. We were able to enjoy a decent lunch buffet and around five full plates of huge shrimps. Filipino desserts were also to die for. I found out that the restaurant changes the theme of their menu on a daily basis to accommodate the varying tastes and preferences of their guests. I am also happy to know that the price of a lunch buffet that starts at eleven in the morning and ends at two in the afternoon is just P375. This amount is relatively cheap considering the endless servings of food you can enjoy and the fact that you are still dining at a famous hotel in the city.

I will definitely recommend this place to those who are looking for a lavish dining experience without having to spend that much. I think that the Seven Seas Restaurant at the Pearl Manila Hotel is also great for birthday celebrations and occasional treats. Everyone will surely leave the place with a happy and contented stomach and it wouldn’t even break the bank.

Face Value: I Love Careline Makeup Set 1 Review

The interest in makeup came to me quite late, when I was already in my third year in college. That was also the time when I realize that you could improve your appearance if you put your heart into it. Nevertheless, I was completely smitten with the magic makeup can do-you can be sweet or sultry, smoking-hot or professional-pretty, with just a few swipes (in other cases, more than a few swipes). The best part of it was, you could change your looks without changing your wardrobe.

So slowly, I began to accumulate a number of makeup items, (just one at a time so I would not shock my mother who was not used to seeing her daughter’s face made-up), using them one by one and testing them against our tropical weather. Over the course of time, I have tried quite a number of makeup products. I fell in love with some, and discarded others. One product that took my attention was the I Love Careline Makeup Set 1. One look at the palette made me swoon: it has nine eyeshadows in bronze, a pale blue color, and snow white; glittering beige, pale green, sweet pink that reminds me of strawberry cake, light gray, lilac and an amazing blue color that does magic in making brown eyes pop. A peach blusher and a pink one was included in the makeup set too, all in powder form. Handy enough to fit into a purse and with colors that combine to make endless gorgeous combination, and at a great price at that, I knew I bought a winner.

Or so I thought. The eyeshadow colors were a standout indeed, worn in single shades during the day or layered for a fun party look at night. The thing is, they would not stay on my eyelids. I am aware that eyeshadow primers do make colors stick for long hours, but I expected from this product to bring my eyes out even without the help of primers, as other eyeshadow products that I used before did. My eyelids itched too after applying the makeup, especially the area where my eyelashes grow. So much for looking gorgeous but uncomfortable. The blushers too, failed to deliver. Applied to my cheeks, the colors looked off, even though peach blush looked good with my skin tone. I tried blending the blushes together to produce a peachy-pink color, but the result failed to give me the just pinched, healthy glow I’m after.

Finally, comfort won over vanity. I would still have loved to use the eyeshadow shades but would not risk another bout of discomfort the next time I went on a night out or had to meet important people. The makeup set just sits there, unused any longer. Come to think of it, the line of makeup products under the said brand was made for tweens and teenagers, so I was somehow confident that it would be skin-friendly. But then again, it did not work the way I expected it to. So again, I’m on the hunt for a new makeup palette that will bring out the best in me, without irritations and frustrations.
