  5. Dear Sir/Madam,

We, Maria Issah S. Guerrero and Wrecy Mae Javaluyas, are 4th year Applied Psychology students from the University of the Philippines Diliman – Extension Program in Pampanga. We are currently conducting a research study about the narratives of former street children for our thesis. Our thesis entitled: “Tagumpay sa Buhay: Mga Kwento ng mga Dating Batang Lansangan”. Our study is a qualitative study and the purpose of the study is to understand and present the lived experiences of former street children who consider themselves successful according to their own standards. By presenting the narratives of former street children, the study could help NGOs and governmental institutions in providing the appropriate and effective intervention program for street children. An unstructured form of interview or pakikipagkwentuhan shall be conducted to collect data and narratives for the study.

With that being said, we are asking your good office if you can contact and refer participants that will meet the criteria that we need for the research and who are interested in participating to undergo an interview.

In line with this, we are in need of:

    ● 25 years old and above

    ● A former street child

The participant will be asked to do the following:

    1. Participate in a recorded interview lasting for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

    2. Review and respond to transcriptions of interview.

Risks for participating in the study are minimal. No costs will be incurred by either your institution or the individual participants. The information and narratives that will be provided by participants may prove beneficial to understanding the struggles and experiences of street children in order to effectively provide them with the help they need. This will also aid in providing street children with the help they need. The research will ensure confidentiality and anonymity among the participants. Once the research has been completed, a copy of it may be available upon your request.

Attached here is a copy of the request, our research objectives and interview guide for your reference. For queries, please contact us at 09264650749
