I was perfectly ok using my Revlon PhotoReady Powder Foundation as my setting powder before I made the decision to switch. I had already chanced upon this product in the supermarket or department stores. I mean, who wouldn’t notice its bright yellow packaging, right? But riding on caution, I wouldn’t really try a product until someone gives me an honest opinion.
So, one day while browsing the BDJ Box website, I got intrigued by a review of Ms Barbie Chan. By the way, she’s the Chief Makeup Artist of Maybelline Philippines and also a beauty minister of the BDJ Box Community. I was surprised to know that she’s using Garnier Visible Whitening Face Powder as her everyday pressed powder. A beauty guru is using a mass brand quality powder? I was expecting only luxury brands in her makeup kit. Boy, I instantly thought: “If this powder worked for a seasoned makeup artist, this has got to be thaaat gooood!”
My Mary Kay Timewise Liquid Foundation (Matte) went on first and then I used a powder brush to buff it on my face. I didn’t use the sponge because it looks cheap. I prefer a powder brush or maybe a kabuki brush as the powder grabs easily into the bristles. Among the three available shades, I picked Natural since I feel Beige is a bit pinkish and Ivory is lighter than my skin tone.
Voila! Natural perfectly suits my skin tone. I love that it leaves a shine-free finish. After about 15 minutes, I was expecting my face to oil up. To my surprise, my face was still matte with a slight dewiness on the t-zone. I was also amazed that my face looks visibly brighter, not quite what I expected of acidic skin which tends to get dark after makeup is applied. If that doesn’t impress you!
Get fairness that doesn’t shine. What could be more fitting than that? Garnier Light visible whitening face powder provides whitening effect and a 6 hours shine-free look in an ultra-light texture’, says on the packaging. It has SPF 18 in it too. I’ve been using this product for a month now and I can honestly say, “I feel confident wearing it!” I only do minimal touch-ups on normal days and it is such a breeze. My liquid foundation and this face powder are meant to be together. They bring out the best in me. At PhP 199, I have found my holy grail pressed powder without having to shell out much!
