Summer is definitely here and beach is the most common destination for us. This year, my friends and I have decided to spend another bonding moment at Sumilon Bluewater Island Resort. Sumilon is situated in the southeastern part of Cebu. It is a 3 hour bus ride to Oslob and a 15 minute boat transfer to the island resort. Upon reaching the island, we were immediately greeted by the staff and given a map on the whole island.
We availed for the Day tour package which includes buffet lunch, boat transfers, use of infinity pool, kayaking, trekking, snorkeling, and of course, swimming in the shifting sandbar. First, we headed to the Lagoon area for some kayaking. Since all of us are excited to see Nemo, we borrowed snorkel gear and hit the beach. It is truly wonderful under the sea.
Just before lunchtime we enjoyed the infinity pool and Jacuzzi while savoring the breathtaking view of the ocean. The staff set up the dining area for our lunch. We were served with delicious meals and cold drinks. After eating, we rested for a while and got ready for our next activity- trekking. We started walking for a few minutes until we reached the amazing sandbar. We were definitely in love with the place. The fine sand and crystal clear water are indeed magnificent.
After enjoying the water, we continued to hike and had the opportunity to take a top view at the natural lagoon and white beach. At the island’s highest point, there stands a historic watchtower and a modern lighthouse. On the other side, you can see the Marine Sanctuary. We did not have the chance to see underwater since it was already low tide and it would mean additional pay for scuba gear.
Overall, our summer escapade was a total blast. I would still want to swim at the white sand bar where you can enjoy the sunset’s view. The Day Tour package was all worth it. However, I suggest that you spend overnight to totally enjoy the whole island, although it can be costly.
