Adoption Process, Requirements And Procedures In The Philippines

Republic Act 8552 or Domestic Adoption Law provides the provisions
Local DSWD to provide free consultation and inquiries related to adoption, it’s processes and requirements ¹
The law prohibits the discussion of adoption for unborn children
Direct adoption is considered illegal and carries a penalty of jail time

- a pregnant or a new mom who is considering adoption, talk to a social worker (e.g. Grace to be Born in Pasig, Kaisang Buhay Foundation in Quezon, Haven for Women in Batangas or City Social Welfare in Dasmarinas, etc.)

Legal age
At least 16 years old then adoptee (e.g. baby is 2 years old, you must be at least 18 yrs old or older)
Has the capacity to exercise parental duties and authority
Has a good moral character; not convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude
Has the capacity to support, to educate and to care
Undergone pre-adoption services
For alien, must have a diplomatic relations with the Philippines, has been certified by their consular office that they are qualified for adopting a child, and their government allowed the process
For alien, has been living in the Philippines for at least 3 continuous years prior to filing of the application

Birth and marriage certificates (authenticated)
Written consent from the children (legitimate and illegitimate) living with the applicant who are 10 years old and older
Health certificate, NBI or police clearance
ITR or proof of income
Character references
