Zark’s Burgers: The Ultimate Burger Experience
I first found out about Zark’s Burgers when my classmate was telling me and my friends about it. He was telling me about his experience there with our classmates, how the burgers were so big for its reasonable price, that the fries tasted so good and the ambiance was cool. Out of awe and curiosity, I swore to myself that I was going to go there one day and try it out myself. Last April 5, after a long and boring afternoon, my boyfriend Sean and I decided to go on a little adventure. We were at Shang that time so we took an MRT then got off the train in the last stop. We thought as soon as we get off, Estrada st. would be walking distance from the station then we found out that apparently it wasn’t and that we had to take a jeep en route to McDonald’s. After getting dropped off, we talked about what we were expecting as we were walking to the building it’s in.
When we got there, we were brought to our seats and given menus. The variety of the menu was interesting. It ranged from Minor League to Major League. I think it’s cute how the names of the burgers were sports-themed like “Three Pointer”, “Homerun” and “Stone Cold Stunner.” They also serve ribs, steak, hotdogs, sandwiches and rice meals. There were so many burgers to choose from but I decided to get the Shaq and Sean decided to get the Ultimate Burger. After a few minutes, our orders were served and just looking at the burgers on our tables amazed us.
My order was a cheeseburger topped with bacon and fried onion rings while Sean’s was a burger with cheese sauce in a bed of fresh vegetables topped with sautéed mushroom and bacon. We enjoyed every bite and we were both saying the trip going to Manila was a completely worth it. The burgers along with the fries satisfied our hunger and our boredom. The mustard and mayonnaise alone is so good, you can eat it on your own if you want to. This might as well be real version of the Krabby Patty if you think about it. It’s just that good.
If you think you’re hungry enough to eat all their burgers, you should try their challenge. There are two challenges you can accomplish: Jawbreaker and Tombstone. Both Major League burgers, the Jawbreaker is a triple cheeseburger with Spam, bacon and overflowing cheese sauce on top and the Tombstone is a two-pound cheeseburger covered with cheese sauce and served with 300 grams of fries. You are given 5 minutes to finish your meal if you choose Jawbreaker and 10 minutes for the Tombstone. If you’re strong enough to finish any of the two, you can get away with it free of charge. But if not, you’d have to pay the price. If you choose the Tombstone challenge and actually finish, you’ll get your picture taken and will be posted on the Wall of Fame. And if that’s still not enough, you get a free shirt. This may be a tough challenge to beat but I bet it feels awesome to tell everyone about it if you had actually finished it (and ‘cause you ate a P250/P500 worth of burgers and fries for free).
If what I just told you doesn’t peak your interest in these burgers, I don’t know what will. After our first visit at Zark’s, Sean and I have been loyal customers ever since. Every visit is a fun burger experience, and the burgers taste better every time. The only downside to this is the calories you’re going to gain after one sitting. But nevertheless, Zark’s Burgers is a guilty pleasure.
