Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach Review: For Those Perfect Brows
Bleaching your hair blond while leaving out your eyebrows doesn’t sit well with me. Naturally dark eyebrows may seem a bit too strong and harsh against blond or light hair. Apart from that, lightening one’s eyebrows seems to also help brighten up the face. However, eyebrow lightening or bleaching is not offered in most salons. This is why I highly recommend Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach Extra Strength.
It’s a product that you can grab from any SM Department Store. I haven’t seen these in Ayala malls. Here in Cebu, it’s something SM runs out of of quite quickly, so make a dash for it once you see these back on the shelves. At a little over P500, it may seem a bit pricey for some, but the set actually lasts a long time. I’ve had this for 3 months, and I still have plenty left. Plus, the results last two weeks, so the price is really reasonable.
The set contains the pre-conditioner, creme bleach, and activator. It’s very easy to use. It just takes me 20 minutes every time. It takes 3 simple steps, and then you’re done:
- Apply the pre-conditioner on clean, dry eyebrows, and let this sit for a minute.
- Mix the activator (powder) and the creme bleach until you get that ice cream texture.
- Apply it on your eyebrows and let it sit for 8 minutes (for lighter, brownish effect) before you wash it off.
I want my eyebrows really light, so I let it sit for 15 minutes. The instructions will tell you to just give it 8 minutes and just repeat the process for lighter results. True enough, it starts to sting after 8 minutes, but it’s nothing you won’t be able to put up with. It does dry out your eyebrows a little bit.
The cream is very easy to spread all over your eyebrows. It also sticks up there and it doesn’t fall off because of it’s cream texture. It’s also something that’s easy to wipe or wash off.
I like how immediate the effect is. I find it easier to shape, reshape, and color my eyebrows after bleaching. I can choose what eyebrow shade to use for the day. Any inexpensive eyebrow powder or palette would work well with my eyebrows lightened like that.
Brown eyebrow pencil or palette will seem darker on black eyebrows. On bleached eyebrows, though, you can choose to go light or reapply for stronger, darker effects. Either way, it’s not going to look as strong as that on unbleached brows. I go easy on the eyebrow makeup for that fresh no makeup look.
Without makeup, though, it will look like you’ve shaved them all off, so don’t go out of the house without your favorite eyebrow pencil or palette. Overall, I am very happy with this product.
