Our International Ambassadors and Fundraising Coordinators … See MoreSee Less
Congratulations Nathan and Pip. May God’s favour and blessing be upon all your efforts. 🙂
the first thing that pops into my head is, "pip, pip, cheerio!" glad to have you guys on board! thankful!
…She had been hit. One too many times. And she ran. And left her children.
She never looked back. She abandoned them.
Their lives and hers… forever changed.
…She had given birth the night before. Her eighth child. She could hardly manage to care for the other 7. She couldn’t work out how to cope with another mouth to feed. She ran. Out the side door when the hospital staff wasn’t looking. She abandoned her last little one.
His life- and hers… forever changed.
…She knew she was in too deep. Drugs and alcohol were destroying her life. She needed out. And so, neatly dressed and newly bathed, she left her child in the back of a jeepney, to be found like a sack of forgotten groceries. Then she ran, far and hard. Never looking back.
Her life and her daughter’s. life…. forever changed.
Before you judge…
Don’t think that her heart doesn’t remember.
Don’t think she goes to sleep at night with dry eyes.
Her heart carries a scar that hurts and throbs in a deep hidden place.
She is not a monster, a loser, a selfish calloused human being. She is a human soul, just like you and me, with no choice, no options, none to help.
The birth mother who seems to hide in the shadows comes out when the sun goes down.
Some birth mothers move on and are able to grow and get ahead in life, thankful for a second chance.
Some of them crumble in a heap and life eats away at them, and they can’t fight any more.
Some regret the decision for the rest of their days. And a few, a very few, know their decision was right. For them. For the child. At that time.
But regardless, these mothers want what we want- the very best for their child.
I love another mother’s child. I love him with my life. I would do no less for him than a child of my own flesh and blood. I know the fears, the horrors, the what-if’s, the oh-no’s, the joys, the laughter, the unexplainable bond, the pure beauty of being his mommy.
But even I, know the wonder of that first mommy and how she stands in the shadows sometimes…
So today, I honor those of you who have been brave and strong enough to become someone’s ‘new’ mommy. I honor you for being willing to surround this chosen child with love, compassion, and grace.
I honor you for persevering when you feel unworthy, inadequate and unloved. I honor you for choosing to be the lifeline for your child even when they drain the very life out of you.
God sees each quiet tear… and He promises to put them into a bottle.
God hears each heart-felt laugh… and He is pleased.
God sees our tired hearts and bodies and promises strength and renewing.
God knows…and God has called you, to this child.
And you, dear birth mother, I honor you. For giving life to this child and giving him hope. For making a way for him to live and for God to intervene. Thank you for his life. For without it, mine would be incomplete.
Know that we, the adoptive mother, the foster mother, we love your child and are making sure that he is safe and that he knows he is loved. Please rest, knowing that God has made a way where you thought there was no way.
And we are doing our very best to be all that this child needs. We are not perfect, and we don’t claim to be better than you were. But we are doing our best to mother the one you left behind.
Hold your head up for a moment and hear this; just as you dreamed and hoped for him to be safe and well and loved, HE IS. With God’s help, we will raise this child to be strong, loved, and brave. You did not fail. There is always hope.
And there is hope for you- hope that God will comfort your deepest heart of hearts and know that He was there in that desperate moment when your child was left behind. And He is here now, and always will be. Your child is indeeed loved and so are YOU. … See MoreSee Less

oh how the Father loves His children. Adoption is not an easy road for either child or parent… but despite the journey, something beautiful is made. He truly sets the lonely in families- from our hands into yours! #lifeinanorphanage … See MoreSee Less
