Epilin Hair Remover Review: The Best Way to Remove Underarm Hair
I first encountered Epilin Hair remover at the beauty section of SM Mall. It seemed easy enough to use so I put one in my cart. Epilin 200g costs about PhP 300. Since it was payday, I figured why not? I usually go to the mall salon for threading, but this can be a hassle sometimes, especially if you have to take that trip solely for that purpose.
Now, with a home hair removal kit like Epilin, you can take care of your grooming needs in the privacy of your own home. It also saves you quite a sum of money. Going to the salon will cost you around PhP 250 give or take for threading/ per session.
The secret to using Epilin successfully is to get just the right temperature of the melted wax before you apply it on your underarms. If it’s too hot, it will scald your skin and leave a red inflammation on the exposed area.
This happened to me once and it took a few days for the redness of the skin to disappear; the best thing to do, after heating the tub over the stove is to let the melted wax cool down a bit. You want to get a gummy consistency. Once the melted wax starts thickly sticking to the spatula, that’s when you know it’s ready for use. It takes two tries before you can completely get all of the hair removed.
What I like about using Epilin is the smooth finish. Shaving tends to make the skin on your underarms area bumpy when the skin grows back, and plucking results in chicken skin. Sometimes, you even get ingrown hair, if the hair doesn’t grow back properly. Unlike shaving, which simply cuts the hair of your underarms from skin level, using hot wax pulls the hair from the roots. With Epilin, when the hair grows back the texture remains thin, and the underarm area doesn’t become bumpy. A 200g worth of Epilin lasts me about 2 months.
The downside to using hot wax is that it gets a bit messy. So you have to be mindful when you’re using Epilin. Don’t get it on your hands, or spill it on the floor. It’s hard to clean. It takes a few times before you perfect the technique. But once you get it right, you’ll never go back to shaving. Simply put, Epilin is the best method of underarm hair removal that I’ve discovered.
